Get Ready For the Arctic Mammoth

Fishkill – Steve Turk, President of Splash Down Beach Water Park has a “mammoth” passion for water parks. “I’ve always been enamored with the water park business, and I think the greater region has been under served when it comes to family entertainment.” commented Turk. At six stories tall and 600 feet long, Turk and his staff believe this new ride to be the largest ride in the Northeast. It certainly has a commanding presence when standing near it. The Arctic Mammoth takes up 3 acres of the 17 acre property that makes up the Splash Down Beach Water Park Resort.

The water park opens Saturday, and will expect over 200,000 people to pass through the gates from now until labor day, when the park closes for the season.

The construction of this project started in February but the planning and design of the water raft slide took two years. Park General Manager Andrew Chafatelli thinks it was all worth the wait. “Guests will climb aboard a 5 person raft and twist and turn down breathtaking back-to-back curves, drops and vortex loops.” said Chafatelli.
“It really is all about the family”, added Turk.

The ride will officially open in less than three weeks, once the proper testing and maintenance is conducted. But it doesn’t end here. Turk and staff are already planning more expansions to the park. “We built this Arctic Mammoth to be the sister ride to another ride. Andrew is working on the design of it right now and it’s going to be some surprise!”
